Janet Bradberry

August 15, 1949 — December 1, 2015

Janet Alice Peytavin Bradberry, 66, born August 15, 1949 in New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away on December 1, 2015, after an eight year battle with cancer. Jan (as she was affectionately called by her husband Johnny) is survived by her three children, Jennifer Burtis (husband Rich), Ryan (wife Nikki), and Alisse Robinson (husband Jeffrey), husband Johnny, and grandchildren Nicholas, Olivia, Sophie, Adelynne, Jack, Lucy, Ainsley, and Mary Drew, sisters Judy Bordelon and Mary Ripple. She is preceded in death by her parents, Clement B. Peytavin and Pearl M. Peytavin.

Janet was a devoted wife, loving mother and an adoring grandmother. Her passion was her grandchildren. They called her Nana and she lived to love and be with them. She would frequently and affectionately say to them, "Always remember that I love you from the top of your head to the tip of your toes and everything in between." She so much wanted to see them grow into loving/happy/self- confident/respected men and women and hoped she could play a role in molding them to that end. Her favorite time of the year was Christmas and she loved to shower her family with special gifts and good cooking.

Married to Johnny for 44 years, she stood by his side for numerous relocations before finally settling in Baton Rouge. Throughout the years, Janet made friends each time Johnny's career took them on a new venture-from LSU to Conoco to the Louisiana DOTD to TOPCOR to Volkert and the many communities she touched, Janet cherished the many friendships she made along the way.

Janet loved to shop, cook, garden, travel, and play golf. She was a fantastic cook and could prepare unbelievable dishes for the many family and social events at our house-from office parties to birthday parties to holiday gatherings. She learned to play golf in Dubai, UAE, and developed lasting friendships along the way. To some in her group here in Baton Rouge she is affectionately known as "coach".

Janet was a very giving person, kind, not presumptuous or judgmental and genuinely cared for the less fortunate. She was committed to and embraced God's love for us. A devoted Catholic, she believed she had a place in heaven.

Janet was very grateful and blessed to have been under the care of Dr. Giles Fort, Dr. Tammy Dupree, and nurses Jennifer Arceneaux and Alona Edwards-a special thank you to them. Special thanks also to St. Joseph Hospice for their warm and compassionate care.

Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation which will be held at St. George Catholic Church, Friday, December 4,2015, from 10:30AM to 12:30PM, followed by Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 12:30 PM. Burial will follow there in the St George Cemetery, Garden Mausoleum.
