A retired LSU maintenance supervisor, he died at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice on Saturday, April 2, 2011. He was 77, a resident of Denham Springs and a native of Many. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Wednesday, April 6, from 9 a.m. until service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Paul Yi. Burial in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Survived by his wife, Donna McJunkin Van Veckhoven sons, Greg, Clay and wife Peggy, and Alan and Jason Van Veckhoven daughters, Rhonda Daigle and husband James, Janis Van Veckhoven, Janine Carlisle and husband Brent, and Marsha Woodcock and husband Dale 18 grandchildren and nine greatgrandchildren. Preceded in death by his brother, Alphonse Van Veckhoven parents, James T. Van Veckhoven Sr. and Mary P. Werner and daughter, Sharon Van Veckhoven McNeely. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Special thanks to Dr. Ratcliff, Dr. Tullis, Dr. Jones, nurses on fifth floor and ICU at Ochsner Medical Center and the entire staff of The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice.
