A retiree from BASF Chemical Corp., a resident of Denham Springs and a native of Wisner, he died after a courageous battle with lung cancer at 3:30 a.m, Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012, at his home. He was 81 and veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a gracious, caring man who was deeply loved and respected by his family and friends. He was an avid sportsman who loved spending endless amounts of time on the water. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home on Tuesday, Feb. 14, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation resumes at the funeral home on Wednesday, Feb. 15, from 10 a.m. until religious service at noon., conducted by Pastor Joey Myers. Burial in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by a daughter, Tomi Yvonne Thornhill a sister, Barbara Charrier and husband Lloyd a brother, Roger Thornhill a grandchild, Stacy Yvonne May and husband Brian a greatgrandchild, Olivia Yvonne May two nieces, Kay Milstid and husband Larry, and Rebecca Albert and husband Steve and three nephews, Curry Charrier and wife Shelly, Tommy Thornhill and Jay Paul Thornhill. Preceded in death by parents, Thomas Paul and Winnie A. Thornhill brother and sisterinlaw, Thomas Arthur and Jennie Thornhill and two nieces, Kimmie Taylor and Sue Thornhill. A special thank you to Dr. Ruben Fabrega and staff of Ochsner Clinic Oncology Department. Also to St. Joseph Hospice nursing staff and his private caregivers, Cleta and Vickie.
