James Richardson

James Zachariah Richardson. “Jimmy”, “JZ” went home to be with his Lord and Savior Friday November 30, 2018 from The Carpenter House in Baton Rouge, LA. Jimmy’s Celebration of Life service will be held Wednesday December 12th at 11:00 a.m.at Parkview Baptist Church with Pastor Merlin Liverman officiating.  Burial will follow in Resthaven Gardens

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 11th at Parkview Baptist and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Jimmy was born September 27, 1922, in Jackson, LA to Stephen Hinds Richardson and Mary Alice Gilmore. After high school he moved to Baton Rouge and attended Louisiana State University, later he joined the U.S. Navy and served in WWII. Jimmy worked more than 25 years at Wyandotte Chemical Plant in Geismar, LA. He served as a deacon for 50 years at his church, Parkview Baptist

Jimmy left a heritage of honesty, love of God, hard work, commitment to God and family. His priority in life was serving and sharing his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, through his words and more so, through his actions. Jimmy enjoyed spending time with his family and loved ones. He had an innate ability to work with his hands, whether gardening, repairing or building things; as our home and furniture.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey B. Spillman and daughter Audrey R. McGee.  Carrying on his legacy are his son, David Z. Richardson and wife Kathy; daughters, Mary R. Jeane; Betty Hofstra and husband Robert; Helen R. Miller Dunn and husband Preston; grandchildren, Ken Paxton, Ashley P. Duncan, Laurie Wilson JD, Zachariah “Zach” Richardson, Kimberleigh J. Welch, Dr. Rebekah H. Shapley, John Hofstra, Dr. Tim Hofstra and Scott Miller, 19 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of extended family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Ken Paxton, Wayne Abshire, Zach Richardson, Chris Welch, David Wilson, Sam Richardson, and Cole Duncan.

The family extends a special thank you to the compassionate staff at The Carpenter House.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jimmy’s memory to Senior Ministry at Parkview Baptist Church.
