James Joseph Peeler, Sr.
Born in New Orleans, LA, on August 13, 1931. James "Jim" Peeler lost his battle with cancer surrounded by his loving family on June 24, 2015.
Preceded in death by his parents, James and Althea (Budenich) Peeler and one sister, Geraldine Peeler Killilea.
Jim served in the Korean War in the US Navy, and studied electrical engineering at LSU. His career consisted of commercial HVAC sales, HVAC contracting, and he was an electrician for the city-parish government until his retirement. He was an avid sports enthusiast, had a love for deep-sea fishing, and enjoyed playing golf with family and friends. Jim was a leader in the Boy Scouts and an usher at St. George Catholic Church for many years before relocating to Most Blessed Sacrament Parish. He especially looked forward to Sunday Dinners with family and friends and enjoyed hearing how good his barbequed chicken tasted!
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Anna Marie (Caruso) Peeler and his 5 childen and their spouses - Cindy Saylors (Bob), Jim Peeler (Lisa), Colleen Rando (Doussan "Dous"), Tina Carpenter (Kyle), and Jeanne Bullman (Bruce). He was proud of all of his family. His grandchildren are Christopher Carpenter, Michelle Peeler Beeler (Ryan), Adam Carpenter (Sara), Amanda McCann Holland (AJ), Robbie Saylors (Addie Webb), Ryan McCann (Taylor Robicheaux), Mimi Saylors (Nick Gowen), Alyce Carpenter (James Carter, IV), Anna Marie Rando, Daniel Peeler, Ian and Sean Bullman. Great grandchildren are Victoria, James Thomas, and Ryan Cole Beeler, and Aubrey Carpenter. He will be greatly missed.

The family request that visiting hours be observed on Friday, June 26, 2015 at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Visiting hours will resume on Saturday, June 27, 2015 from 9:00 AM until the time of services. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place at Resthaven Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph's Hospice, 10615 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge, LA 70809.
