James Lambert

January 9, 1924 — September 18, 2008

Jesus came and stopped by your bed, he took your hands and softly said, you have suffered more than you can stand, come with me to a better land. James O. Lambert, Paw Paw, died at 12:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008, at Ochsner Medical Center-Baton Rouge. He came into this world on Jan. 9, 1924, he was 84 years old. A retired maintenance supervisor, he was a native of Monticello, Miss., and a longtime resident of Walker. He leaves behind with cherished memories three sons, James Thomas Lambert and wife Pat, of Walker, Buddy Lambert, of Lolita, Texas, and Michael Lambert, of Walker; four daughters, Eva L. Monroe and husband Joseph, of Denham Springs, Ivy Walters and husband Frank, of Snellville, Ga., Lula Sanford and husband Otto, of Lolita, and Margie Rackley and husband Caye, of Texas; sister, Udean Sumrall, of Foxworth, Miss.; brother, Howard Lambert, of Foxworth; sister-in-law, Mary Lambert; 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; loving sweetheart, Ginger Richardson; multitude of nieces and nephews; loyal pet, Ringo; and extended family at Southern Pines and Council on Aging. He was a lifetime member of Trinity Union Masonic Lodge and member of Order of the Eastern Star Myrtle Celeste Chapter 231. Preceded in death by his wife, Georgia T. Lambert; parents, Ike and Lena Lambert; two sisters, Frances Russell and Christine Davis; two brothers, Arthur and John Lambert; and granddaughter, Leann Lambert. The family would like to take this time and thank all the medical staff and nurses from Ochsner Medical Center ICU and the fifth floor for the compassion and care they gave our father. A special love goes to our three ICU sisters. Visitation at Resthaven Funeral Home on Friday, Sept. 19, from 5 p.m. until Eastern Star service at 7 p.m. and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until Masonic service at 10 a.m. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
