James Edison Morel, 80, passed away at 1:32 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, at home. He graduated from Lake Charles High School in 1949 and attended Tulane University, was an architect, retiring from Barnard and Burke in 1993. He was a resident of Baton Rouge and native of Lake Charles. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Friday, Jan. 6, from 9:30 a.m. until service at 11 a.m., conducted by Pastor Slade Powell. Burial in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Joy Carroll Morel a daughter, Melissa Carol Anderson and husband Robert Anderson three sons, Michael Edison Morel and wife JoAnn Townley Morel, Mark Louis Morel and wife Carla Bahlinger Morel, and Mitchel Grady Morel and wife Denise Braud Morel a sister, Georgia Reed and husband Jack O. Reed and five grandchildren, MaKenzie Morel, Amanda Morel, Patrick Morel, Matthew Morel and Megan Anderson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Irma Morel and a brother, Leo Morel Jr. Pallbearers will be Michael Morel, Mark Morel, Mitch Morel, Patrick Morel, Matthew Morel and Robert Anderson. Honorary pallbearer is Tim Brignac. He was a member of Foster Road Church of Christ.
