James Mabe, 68, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at his home. He was a native of Winston Salem, NC, and a resident of Baton Rouge, LA. James served in the Navy during the Vietnam War, where he worked on the aircraft carrier known as the U.S.S. Lexington. He was also a retired fireman that proudly served in his community. He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Allison Mabe daughters, Kristina Porthouse and husband Jon, and Michelle Mabe grandson, Connor Porthouse sister, Shirley Carson brothers, Larry and Ricky Mabe. Preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Clara Mabe, Jr. Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., on Friday, December 6, 2013 from 10 am to 12 noon.
