James Logan

August 23, 1946 — June 13, 2017

James "Jim" Logan, 70, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, surrounded by his family. A celebration of life service will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, June 19, 2017, at Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Father Phil Spano will be conducting the service. Visitation will be from 9:30 am-10:30 am. A private family burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
Jim is survived by his wife of 48 years, Merrie Lee, his children, Kim (Eric) Brignac; Wendy (John) Schempf; and Kevin (Ashley) Logan, his 4 beautiful grandchildren, Mallory Brignac; Addison Schempf; Luke Schempf; and Branden (Amanda) Brignac and his great grandson, Bennett Brignac. He is also survived by his brothers, Joe (Deb) Logan; Brian (Nancy) Logan; Randy (Teresa) Logan; and Brent Logan and his sister, Nancy (Rick) Delmonico. He is preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Elvera Logan, and his beloved brother, Ron Logan.
Jim was a chemical engineer and plant manager with BASF Corporation until his retirement. He was a humble and gentle man. Jim was, above all else, a family man. Nothing mattered more to him. He was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, and friend to many. He loved spending time with his grandkids most of all. They were the lights of his life. He also enjoyed being outside in nature, vegetable gardening, watching the LSU Tigers and the Iowa State Cyclones, and spending time with his other children, his dogs.
The family would like to extend our deepest appreciation to the entire staff at Ochsner Medical Center on O'Neal Lane in Baton Rouge. We are eternally grateful to the wonderful nurses in the Intensive Care Unit not only for the skilled medical care provided to Jim, but also for the compassion and support provided to our family. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation in Jim's name to Easter Seals.
