Our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother and loving friend, he went to be with the Lord after a long and courageous fight with lung cancer on Monday, Dec. 3, at 3 p.m. He was taken care of by the wonderful staff on the oncology floor at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was 60, a resident of Gonzales and a native of Tallahassee, Fla. Survived by the love of his life, Carol Sylvia, of Cranston, R.I.; son and daughter-in-law, James Rick and Judith Kiper, of Pembroke Pines, Fla.; daughters and sons-in-law, Sherrill and Glenn Knight, of Arlington, Texas, and Rena and Bart Gremillion, of Baton Rouge; daughters, Melinda Kiper, of Tallahassee, and Jessica Kiper, of West Hollywood, Calif.; brother, Ted B. Kiper III; and his mother, Loretta Kiper. He was very close to Carol's children, Mark Sylvia and Janet Devine, and considered them his own. He adored his 15 grandchildren, including Carol's three, and loved his first great-grandchild. Preceded in death by his father, Theodore B. Kiper II. He was loved by everyone who knew him. Although we will miss him terribly, we take comfort in the knowledge that he is now with our Lord, safe and without pain. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Saturday, Dec. 29, from 10 a.m. until memorial service at noon, conducted by the Rev. Mike Collins. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Cancer Services of Baton Rouge or the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center.
