James "Al" Jones

James “Al” Jones, 86, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, sadly left us peacefully on December 21, 2023.  Born on December 26, 1936 in Jackson, Louisiana, Al was the eldest son of Louie and LuLu Jones. 

After graduating high school, Al attended Louisiana State University and then served in the U.S. Army as a personnel specialist. He was honorably discharged and went on to work in security at the area casinos and loved meeting many celebrities. Al was then employed by the State of Louisiana Department of Corrections where he was an administrator. He would spend his free-time fishing and watching LSU and Tulane Football. Al was also an avid collector of memorabilia.

Al was a man of faith who loved his family and friends.  He was proceeded in death by his parents, Louie and LuLu Jones; his sister, Ann Jones; his brother, Col. Murphy Neal Jones, USAF; and his nephew, Murphy Neal Jones, Jr. Al is survived by his sister-in-law, Glenda B Jones; niece, Darla Jones Murphy (James); his great nieces Lauren, Ashley and Kennedy; and his great nephew, Neal. 

A graveside funeral service will be held at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 1:00 PM. The family invites you to a reception immediately following the service in the reception hall on site.
