A resident of Slaughter, he died Monday, Aug. 20, 2012, at Carpenter House in Baton Rouge. He was 82 and a native of Brookhaven, MS. Survived by a daughter, Cathy James and husband John a daughterinlaw, Kyong Marchiafava a sister, Joy Smith a brother, Harry Gill and wife Joann five grandchildren, Heather Ellis and husband Josh Stephanie Stalter and husband Ben Stacey Gill, Shannon Orillion and husband Dustin and Shane James five great grandchildren, Emma James, Isabella Ellis, Preston Stalter, Annalise Ellis and Tanner Orillion. Preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Gill two sons, Milton Gill and Dwayne Gill and a brother, Earl Gill. He was a Korean war veteran and retired from Wm. H. LaDew Co., where he was a sprinkler fitter. He loved fishing, helping his neighbors and riding with his dog ,Sweetie, in his golf cart. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, on Wednesday, Aug.22 from 5pm to 9pm. Visiting resumes at the funeral home on Thursday, Aug.23 from 9am until service at 11am, conducted by Rev. Reggie Bridges. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
