James Thomas Dorris, Jr.

"Loving Father, Best Husband Ever; James Thomas Dorris, Jr. unexpectedly died on August 11th, 2023. 

He was born on November 14th, 1937, in Jackson, Mississippi. After graduating from Central High School in Jackson, he attended Mississippi State University for one year. He retired from the Ford Motor Company after working for 30 years. 

He became a Christian at a young age and later became a deacon in several Baptist churches. He enjoyed reading, playing golf, and attending Bible studies. Most recently, he was a member of Istrouma Baptist Church in Baton Rouge. He taught Sunday school and enjoyed taking care of the preschoolers. James was also a friend of Dr. Bob.

James was married to Susan E. Dorris for 39 years. He is survived by his children Beth Wilson (Howard), Sheri Barkemeyer (Kraig), Michael Dorris (Gwen), and his wife’s children Leigh Ann Texada (Buddy), and John Scoggins (Ashley). He leaves behind thirteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Stella and JT Dorris and his brother Russell Dorris.
