James Burnett, Jr.

November 9, 1951 — April 6, 2016

James Bailey Burnett, Jr., age 64, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2016.

James was born on November 9, 1951 and was a native and a resident of Baton Rouge. He worked for AT&T for 44 years. James was a gentle soul who made a big impact on others. He loved life and enjoyed fishing and the outdoors.

James is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Mary Beth Muller Burnett; his children, Michael Burnett of Denham Springs, Allyson Burnett Ghetti of Baton Rouge, and Brandon Burnett of Baton Rouge; his grandchild, Julianna Ghetti; his nephew, Bruce Eckert (Darlene); and his nieces, Betty Willis (Chris), Bonnie Perrin (Joe) and Bridgette Kron (Edgar).

He is preceded in death by his mother, Bertha Haase Burnett; his father, James Bailey Burnett, Sr.; and his sisters, Gay Nell Eckert and Jimmie Lee Craft.

A memorial visitation will be held at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church on Saturday, April 9, 2016 from 12:30 PM until mass at 2:00 PM.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of St. Joseph Hospice and The Carpenter House for their compassionate care given during this time.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Carpenter House, Baton Rouge, LA and the Mesothelioma Research Foundation of America.
