Jadine passed away in the early morning of Monday, May 10, 2010. She was a woman who reached for your hand and touched your heart. A beloved wife and mother, adored granny, cherished sister and friend to many, she was best known for her generosity, sense of humor and commitment to her family and friends. Born and raised in Bogalusa, she married her college sweetheart, Phillip M. Brown, on June 11, 1965. Her pride and joy were their four grandchildren, Landon, Payton, Austin and Harper. She had a fulfilled career as a teacher and her legacy can be seen in the lives of the many students she challenged to achieve more than they knew they could. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Wednesday, May 12, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 9 a.m. until service at 10 a.m. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Jadine is survived by her husband, Phillip sons, Phillip Jr. and Kenneth daughter, Amanda and sister, Johnnie Vern Hernandez. Preceded in death by her parents, J.K. Thurman and Etta Thurman and sister, Jeanette Martinez. For the past 38 years, Miss Jadine enjoyed her playgroup, a closeknit group of friends that embodied the love, laughter and warmth that was a hallmark of her life. To celebrate her love of teaching and continue her legacy of improving the lives of students, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Jadine Thurman Brown Scholarship Fund checks can be sent to 17554 Lake Willow Ave., Baton Rouge, LA 70817.
