Jackie Duke, age 80, a resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on Tuesday, June 14th, 2022. She was born in Gonzales, LA and graduated from Istrouma High School in Baton Rouge, LA. Jackie worked for South Central Bell, and later AT&T, as an Operator and then Business Manager for over 30 years. She was married to Earl “Bobby” Duke for 42 years and their love story has been retold many times. They never failed to stop and “Dance the Boogaloo” as Bobby would call it; and there are many pictures of them holding each other tight while dancing to some great music.
Jackie is survived by her husband, Bobby Duke, and 4 daughters, Kimberly Lambert Woods (Mark), Kim Duke Mansur, Jill Duke Toural (L.J.) and Dutchie Duke Betz (Jeff). She is survived by her grandchildren, Brandee Sandusky (Rhett), Blake Betz, Thomas Mansur III, Parker Toural, Landry Mansur, Peyton Toural, Jill Griffin (Ryan), and Joni Carlos (Iley). She is survived by her great grandchildren, Madison Sandusky, Cora Jane Sandusky, Guy Woods, Jay Griffin, and Madelyn Carlos. Her surviving siblings are Kathleen Armond, Ruby Nell Pickering, Dwain Ficklin (Pat) and John Chaney (Margie) as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents Guy Ficklin and Ruby (John) Chaney and brothers-in-law Lloyd Pickering and Ernest Armond.
Visitation will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 from 9am until services at 11am. Burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
Pallbearers will be Guy Pickering, Rodney Pickering, Clay McIntyre, Philip Reis, Jimmy Cruze and Mark Armond.
