Isabel Rita LeBlanc Lasseigne was called home to heaven surrounded by family on Monday, September 10, 2018. Service: Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am Thursday, September 13, 2018 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church with Father Michael Alello, celebrant. Interment: Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am Thursday at St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
Isabel was born in LaBarre, Louisiana to Jules and Celine LeBlanc on December 2, 1926. Isabel was the youngest of ten children and was raised in Morganza, Louisiana. She graduated from Morganza High School and attended Our Lady of the Lake Nursing School in Baton Rouge. After several years as a nurse, Isabel was invited to attend Charity Hospital School of Anesthesia in New Orleans. As one of the first female nurse anesthetists in Louisiana, Isabel was a trailblazer for women in a male dominated medical field. Prior to her marriage, she supervised anesthesia students at Charity Hospital. Isabel met her husband Cliff at the age of 27 and they married six months later. Married for 63 years, Cliff and Isabel had five children. Cliff and Isabel's marriage portrayed a Godly and faithful Christian marriage which provided the most perfect example of selfless love for all, especially their children and many grandchildren. Possessing a true servant's heart, Isabel's home was often full of friends and family recovering from surgery and illnesses and her stove was always warm preparing home cooked meals for her family and others in need. She was a devout Catholic Christian who cared for her family, her friends and her community. Family was of the utmost importance to Isabel and she was happiest when her children and grandchildren were gathered in her home and family camp on the Tickfaw River.
Isabel is survived by her son Jacque (and his wife, Katie), her daughters Julie Lasseigne Neupert, Margaret Lasseigne Musso (and her husband, Donald) and Jennifer Lasseigne Batson (and her husband, James), 15 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her son, Clifton Lasseigne III; her husband, Clifton Lasseigne, Jr.; her parents; and her nine siblings.
