Paul Robichaux

December 15, 1955 — July 2, 2024

Irvin Paul Robichaux (Paul), 68, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana passed away on July 2, 2024.

Paul was born in Crowley, Louisiana on December 15, 1955 to Gladys and Francis Robichaux.

Paul graduated from Crowley High School and attended LSU, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Social Welfare.

Paul learned of Bahá'u'lláh while working as a Correctional Officer at Angola and became a member of the Bahá’í Faith in 1979. He was a longtime and dedicated member of the Baton Rouge Bahá’í community, where he was instrumental to community activities and known & loved by fellow Baha’is throughout the state of Louisiana. Although he suffered from various health issues in past years, he was passionate about teaching the Bahá’í Faith while tirelessly serving the communities across the state and nationally, including leadership positions in the Bahá’í Schools Committee and platforms for eradicating racism, such as Copper to Gold. Despite his personal physical discomfort and pain, he was constant. He revealed in the Copper to Gold groups he facilitated the possibilities of expressing joy, laughter, tears, silence, compassion, and connectedness.

Paul enjoyed cooking, especially Cajun dishes. Crawfish etouffee and peach cobbler were many of his friends’ favorites, particularly when he served as head chef for Louisiana Baha’i summer & winter schools. He also worked as a manager and head chef at Coffee Call for over 20 years, where his specialties were baking bread and preparing soups & Louisiana gumbos. He later applied his creative and technical skills to website design and to food processing equipment repair.

Paul is survived by his brother, Frank Robichaux. He was preceded in death by his father, Francis Robichaux; mother, Gladys Rainwater; and stepfather, James Rainwater.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday July 10, 2024, at 2:00 pm, at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge. Following the funeral service, a celebration of Paul's life will be held at 3:30 pm at the Bahá’í Center of Baton Rouge, 4270 Perkins Road, Baton Rouge
