Precious in the sight of God is the death of his children. A retired title registration clerk with the Louisiana Department of Public Safety, she died at 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 24, 2008, at her home. She was 89, a resident and native of Denham Springs. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Monday, Dec. 1, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting resumes at the funeral home on Tuesday, Dec. 2, from 8 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Dick Metz. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by two daughters, Rose Pate, of Slaughter, and Melva Temple and husband Ernest, of Denham Springs; a sister, Lois Matherne and husband Aldrich, of Baton Rouge; seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. Ritter Sr.; parents, Walter and Rosa Shelton; son, Charles Ritter Jr.; grandson, Tommy Temple; sister, Essie Shelton; and two brothers, Merle and Barney Shelton. Special thanks to the staff of Hospice of Baton Rouge. She was a member of Amite Baptist Church in Denham Springs.
