Irene Devillier

Irene Ann Daigle Devillier passed away at the age of 82 on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Davis Devillier, Sr.; parents, Oscar and Luce Blair Daigle; five brothers, Sidney, Edgar, Euclide, Abel and Oscar Daigle; and five sisters, Julie Austin, Byrdie Decoteau, Josephine Melancon, Celeste Cubbage and Leona Hoffman. She is survived by her children, Renee Devillier Montgomery and spouse Michael, John Devillier, Jr. and spouse Mary Kay, Michelle Devillier, Michael Devillier and spouse Wynette, Ron Devillier and spouse Susan, and Suzanne Devillier Hester and spouse Jeff; grandchildren, Brandon and Laura Devillier, Kyle and Amanda Devillier, Joshua Devillier and Shelby Underwood, Jonathan Devillier, Austin Devillier, Caleb and Breanna Clark, and numerous great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and step-great-grand children. She was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Greenwell Springs, LA.

Affectionately known as Ma Rene, she was a mother and a friend. She was generous, loving and caring, and as the ultimate nurturer, always ready to feed someone. Her sense of humor and honest opinions always brought a smile. She stayed busy cooking, gardening, doing yard work, fishing and working on Pa John's many projects. She had great love for her family, those who went before her, and those she left behind. Those she left behind will miss her dearly.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, October 7, 2016, at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge, LA 70816. Visitation will continue on Saturday, October 8, 2016, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11441 Goodwood Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70815, from 11:30 AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30 PM celebrated by Rev. Gregory J. Daigle.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Brandon Devillier, Kyle Devillier, Joshua Devillier, Jonathan Devillier, Caleb Clark, and Austin Devillier. Cross bearer will be her granddaughter Breanna Clark. Special thanks to her caregiver and friend, Tennille.

Interment will take place at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, 11817 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge, LA 70816.
