A retired accountant with the Louisiana Department of Welfare and a resident of Baton Rouge, she died at 7:20 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2009, in the Hospice of Baton Rouge Butterfly Wing. She was 85 and a native of Paulina. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home on Thursday, July 23, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. until a religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by Deacon Tommy St. Pierre. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. She is survived by a daughter, Janice Breland Meyer; grandson, Jordan Roux; and two stepdaughters, Frances Killebrew, M.D., of San Jose, Calif., and Susan A. Kruse, of Baton Rouge. Preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Idea Roussell Babin; first husband, Leo H. Breland; second husband, Theodore J. Kruse; sister, Hilda Tet Harris; and three brothers, Newton King, George Jap and Percy Pine Babin.
