Idola Landry Ball, 77, died at her home on Thursday, June 5, 2008, after complications from colon surgery. Survived by her loving husband of nearly 58 years, Doyle A. Ball Sr.; children and their spouses, Belinda and James Downing, Olga and Don Simoneaux, Doyle Buddy Jr. and Christy Ball and James Ball; grandchildren, Michelle Mayeux, Stacey Gagneaux, Amanda Downing, Nicholas, Dawn and Kevin Simoneaux, Doyle A. Trey III, Tyler and Trenton Ball and Danielle and James Ball Jr.; great-grandchildren, Mason, Madison and Amelia Mayeux and Caden Gagneaux; and sisters, Yoland Moritz and Mazy Rodgers. Preceded in death by her mother, Mary Estella Bourgeois Landry Ford; father, Walter Emanuel Landry; stepfather, Huber Ford; brothers, Earl, Norman, Lloyd, Herbert and Noland Landry; and sisters, Ethel Landry and Verna Anderson. Visitation at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Friday, June 6, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m., with the Rev. Mike Collins, celebrant. Burial in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers are Darrell Jones and Mark Davis. Idola was a woman of strong faith who blessed every life she touched. She had a passion for gardening and brightened everyone's days with the beautiful flowers she planted. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to everyone who shared those special times and made her life on this earth complete, as well as offering such strength and support to her during the past few months as she began her journey into eternal life. In honor of her love of gardening, please plant a flower in remembrance of her. Her seeds of life have been planted in her family and we know that those seeds are now blooming with her in heaven.
