Ida Bridges

July 16, 1926 — December 24, 2012

Ida Mae Landry Bridges, age 86, died at home 3:45 a.m. on December 24, 2012 after fighting a long courageous battle with cancer. She was born July 16, 1926 and was a native and lifetime resident of Baton Rouge. Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 from 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. The service starts at 11:30 a.m. and will be officiated by Deacon Brent Duplessis of St. Jean Vianney Catholic Church with burial immediately following at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Ida Mae is survived by her 3 daughters and soninlaw, Linda and Jackie Carlton, Becky Varnado, Aline Andrews 3 sons and daughtersinlaw, Clive and Debbie Bridges, Elmo and Kathy Bridges, Wayne and Brenda Bridges 8 grandchildren and 2 step grandchildren and spouses, Jamie and Amy Varnado, Brenda and Ben Kritsonis, Nikki and Terry Sharp, Erin and Brett Vanwey, Latisha Fleming and fianc Joey Mire, Oren Andrews III, Clive Bridges III, Jennifer and Tandem Louque, Scott and Tracy Carlton, Casey Turnage 18 great grandchildren and 7 step great grandchildren a sister, Rose Mary Millet sisterinlaw Gloria Landry and dear friend, Anna Noonie Stevens. Preceded in death by her husband, Clive Moose Bridges, Sr. her parents, Elmo James Landry, Sr. and Mary Ida Keller Landry 2 sisters, Marjorie Dugas, Madeleine Eastin 4 brothers, P.M. Landry, Donald Landry, Sr., Elmo Landry, Jr., Carl Ovide Landry and her beloved dog, Mudfoot. Ida Maes greatest joys were spending time with all of her family and friends and on holidays and LSU games, cooking and entertaining them. She loved going on vacations with all of her family, especially the beach, and worshipping the Lord where she was a parishioner at St. Jean Vianney Catholic Church. She was a 1945 graduate of Istrouma High School and worked at I.H. Rubensteins Department Store. Pallbearers are Jamie Varnado, Clive Bridges III, Oren Andrews III, Scott Carlton, Clarence Millet, Jimmy Bridges. Special thanks to all of St. Joseph Hospice nurses, especially Penny Perkins, for all of their devoted care and kindness and Ochsner doctors and nurses, especially Dr. Jay Brooks. Memorial donations can be made to St. Joseph Hospice, 10615 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge, LA, 708097230. Ida Mae will be fondly remembered and forever missed.
