Huguette Elliser

Huguette G. Elliser, age 94, a resident of Covington La passed away on November 25th 2019.

Huguette, the loving daughter of Jacques and Henriette Garinot, devoted wife of Simon Peter Elliser, and beloved mother of Jackie and Linda was born in Paris, France on June 24th 1925. She loved gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters, Jackie Maravich McLachlan and husband Jim, and Linda Elliser Bruce and husband Doug; her grandsons, Matthew Bruce, Jaeson Maravich, and Joshua Maravich; her step-grandson, Michael McLachlan, her granddaughters, Bonnie Bruce Diep and husband Vinh and Blair Bruce Boudreaux and her great-granddaughters, Ella Boudreaux and Rubylynn Diep.

She is preceded in death by the love of her life and her solider, her husband, Simon P. Elliser; her parents, Jacques and Henriette Garinot, her sister, Jacqueline Szmajda and her step-grandson, Mac McLachlan. At 94 years old she spent her last 10 years on earth as a widow and missed her love every day.

Their love story was one of a kind. Simon served in World War II, and was stationed in Normandy and received the Purple Heart after being wounded. He was assigned north of Paris as a French interpreter for his battalion and is was where that he met Huguette Garinot of Compiegne, France. Huguette left her family and her country to be with Simon. Their story makes up a significant part of the family history. And her family is so thankful for the time they were able to spend with her and the love that she shared.

Visitation will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy. on Friday, November 29, 2019 from 10 am until funeral services at 11 am. Burial will follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
