Hugh Waddle, Iii

November 23, 1928 — June 19, 2018

Hugh McGavock Waddle, III, age 89, a resident of Watson in Livingston Parish, was welcomed into Heaven on June 19, 2018 whereupon he was happily reunited with his bride of 70 years, Jean Mitchell Waddle. Jean preceded him in death on January 24, 2018.

Hugh worked for Kaiser Aluminum & Chemical Corporation in Louisiana (Baton Rouge and Gramercy), India, Sardinia, Australia, and Jamaica. He enjoyed working with different people and showing his girls the world. He loved to tell stories about his family's adventures and what it was like for him to travel worldwide with a wife, four daughters and their luggage.

Hugh retired after a 33 year career with Kaiser at the age of 54. During his retirement years, he enjoyed working as a bailiff at the courthouse, being sworn in as a Deputy Sheriff, and also surveyed barges and ships for a marine surveying business. He was a man who enjoyed staying busy and always had a plan.

He was a 60 year member of the Trinity Union Masonic Lodge and a former Most Worshipful Master. (His family liked to tease him that he was "The Grand Poopah.")

Hugh was an avid senior amateur golfer and until recently, played golf twice a week with his golf buddies of similar age. He even volunteered as the golf coordinator for the Senior Olympics.

He was a Christian man who cherished his Sunday school group and others at Florida Boulevard Baptist Church as they cherished him for over 40 years.

Most of all Hugh loved his family and spending time with them. Backyard barbeques, camping, fishing and shrimping at the family camp, traveling and visiting new places, were just some of the activities the family enjoyed. And in his later years, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Hugh is survived by his four adoring daughters, Patsy Seguin and her husband Butch of Baton Rouge, LA/Fort Lauderdale, FL, Carolyn Waddle Gurley of Watson, LA, Norma Church and her husband Don of Chattanooga, TN, and Sandra Wells of Gautier, MS, cherished grandchildren Trevor Seguin and his wife Marlona of Chattanooga, TN, Alicia Wells and Kimberly Shelton of Gautier, MS, granddaughter-in-law Nancy Seguin of Boca Raton, FL, seven amazing great-grandchildren that he loved dearly, Adrian and Abigail Seguin of Chattanooga, TN, Jordan and Riley Shelton of Gautier, MS and Delaney, Donovan, and Pierce Seguin of Boca Raton, FL, and his devoted brother-in-law, Wayne "Mitch" Mitchell of Baton Rouge, LA.

In addition to his loving wife, Jean, he was preceded in death by his parents, Lillard and Ethel Waddle of Nashville, TN, his brother Lillard Waddle of Henderson, TN, his grandson Dr. Troy Seguin of Boca Raton, FL, a great-grandchild Alexander Seguin of Baton Rouge, LA, as well as, numerous other family friends and extended family members.

Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA on Monday, June 25, 2018 from 1:00pm until funeral service at 2:00pm. Burial will follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.

Hugh lived life to the fullest and was deeply loved by those who knew him. He will be dearly missed by his family until they are reunited once again at the gates of Heaven.
