Hubert Ockman Sr., whose wife of 59 years, Aline Pellerin Ockman passed away one week ago, died Sunday, March 8, 2009, on his wife's birthday. He was a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Vacherie. He was 81 and a retired pipe fitter with Local Union 198 at Kaiser Aluminum. Visiting will be at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Wednesday, March 11, from 10:30 a.m. until the service at 1:30 p.m., conducted by Deacon Tommy St. Pierre. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. He is survived by a daughter, Peggy Wilson Fleming and husband Donald; son, Hubert Sonny Ockman Jr. and wife Cherri Taylor Ockman; grandchildren, William C. Wilson III and wife Allyson, Telly J. Wilson, Melissa B. Wilson, Amanda Ockman Daigle and husband Mann, and Ashley Ockman Vineyard and husband Jason; great-grandchildren, Canyon, Dylan, Madison, Duncan, Ladd, Sonny, Londyn, Alexis, Jase and Carson; and stepgrandchildren, Donnie, Danny and Brittnie Fleming. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Lydia Lassere Ockman; two brothers, Earl Ockman and Irving Ockman; and two sisters, Inez Ockman Hebert and Ethel Ockman. Pallbearers will be William C. Wilson III, Telly J. Wilson, William C. Wilson Jr., Mann Daigle, Ladd Daigle and Jason Vineyard. Special thanks to Ashley Vineyard who will always be remembered for the loving care she gave her grandmother and grandfather, Ginger Ford and Jackie Moore for the loving care they gave our parents which far exceeded their duties.
