A resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Killona, he died at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2007, in Baton Rouge. He was 74. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Friday, Dec. 28, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting continues at the funeral home Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until service at 10 a.m. Entombment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory Mausoleum. He is survived by wife, Bessie C. Champagne; two daughters and sons-in-law, Beth and Andrew Maxwell and Sandi and Noah Smith; two sons and daughters-in-law, Howard Jr. and Samantha Champagne and Paul and Stephanie Champagne; four brothers, Kenneth, Ernest, Hubert and Seth Champagne; and nine grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Pearl Champagne; and two sisters, Pearl and Mary.
