A retired drainage contractor, he died after a long, heroic battle with cancer on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was 81 and a resident and native of Baton Rouge. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army Air Forces after serving in Japan in 1945. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30. Survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Janelle and Richard Simon and Theresa and Timothy Stephens; son, Arthur Landry; two sisters, Juanita Lindley and Debra Lindley; six grandchildren, Tegan Treadaway, Brandon Blades, Brooke Stephens, Treva Jacobs, Matthew Stephens and Bradley Lindley; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Pansy Lindley; father, Tex Lindley; beloved wife, Virginia Lindley; and oldest daughter, Treva Blades. He graduated from Baton Rouge High School and attended LSU for two years. He was a member of the Operating Engineers 406 and Masons Istrouma Lodge 414.
