Hinnon Barnes

Hinnon (Barney) Barnes was 93 years old and a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many still here and many that have gone on before to welcome him to his Heavenly home to be with Jesus.

He was born on January 20, 1927 in Baker, Florida. He served for four years in the Merchant Marines and enjoyed telling stories of the days he served on the ships. Most of his adult life he was an avid insurance salesperson.  In 1959, he moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana and that was home to him for 61 years.

He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Trotter Barnes; son, Michael Barnes,

daughter-in-law, Margie Barnes; daughter, Pamela Flenniken, son-in-law, Jeff Flenniken; brother, Kohnell Barnes, and sister-in-law, Kathy Barnes. He also leaves behind six grandchildren, Amber Barton, Adam Flenniken, Andrea Flenniken, Jennifer Sanborn, Ashley Barnes, Justin Barnes, and

Jill Boudreaux; and 11 great-grandchildren will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by son, James Barnes and daughter, Judy Barnes.

He loved his Jesus, his family, and his animals.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 13, 2020 at Resthaven Funeral Home in Baton Rouge, LA from 12:00 p.m. until Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m.  Burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.  Pallbearers will be B.B. Gilmer, Robert Ballard, Shannon Barton, Austin Moore, Justin Barnes, and Jerry Johnson.
