Hilda Edward

Died Thursday December 6 at the age of 91. Wife of the late Alex S. Terry Edward, married for 52 years. Born in New Orleans, worked in her fathers tile business and as a homemaker. She and was born to the late Frank Termini of Chicago and Hilda Lydia Boone Beckendorf of New Orleans and graduated from Istrouma High School. She is survived by her siblings,Ray Termini, Joyce Babin and Jean Guitreau children,Diana P. Andre Donald, Terry M. Edward Cathi, Cheri Efferson Blaine, Margie Wait Dave and Gene A. Edward Gladys grandchildren, Julie Chase Randy, Jeff Andre June, Daniel Edward Maryam, Jason Edward Jackie, Stephanie Bennett Bryon, Kory Efferson, Kyle E. Gaubert, Evan J. Gaubert, Karen M. Edward, Blaine A. Edward, Alex M. Edward great grandchildren, Abbey and Carley Chase, Joseph, John, Gracie, Nash and Alex Andre, Naomi Edward, Nate and Walter Edward, Alexa Ryon, Vivianne and Eli Gray Bennett, Jeannette Wintter, Jennifer, Jessica and Jaylyn Reese.She is preceded in death by her siblings, Father Mario Termini, Charles Termini, Gloria McIntyre, Dorothy Melker, Frank Termini Sonny and Margaret Thompson. She was an active member of OLOM Parish, member of the RCIA Team for 25 years. Member of Tara Civic Association and Board Member since it was formed in 1970. Member and Past President of Tara Garden Club. She was volunteer coach at Istrouma Junior High and St. Anthony School. She was a long time coach at BREC and was a Senior Olympic participant winning National Gold Medals in volleyball and basketball. She also played in the Senior Olympics until she was 85 often playing down in age because there were so few in her age bracket. Mom was a true role model to all. She was loved greatly by everyone who knew her. The family wishes to thank her dear friends The Ulkins, Loretta and Richard, Eileen, The DiJohn Family and Hospice Caregivers Caritha, Brittany and Christy. Visitation will be Sunday, Dec 9 at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, from 69 p.m. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, Dec 10 at Our Lady of Mercy Church at 1 p.m. In Lieu of flowers please make donations to OLOM RCIA Program or St. Jude Hospital in Memphis, TN.
