Hilda (Beth) Prater Dupaquier, age 86, born of William and Ethyl Toerner Prater, passed away at The Carpenter House hospice on December 22, 2016 while surrounded by her loving family.
Visitation will be Monday December 26, 2016, at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home located at 11817 Jefferson Hwy. in Baton Rouge, from 12:30 PM to until funeral services at 2:30 PM, conducted by Rabbis Jordan Goldson and Barry Weinstein.
A native of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Beth made Baton Rouge her home after graduating from LSU School of Music.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, John Walter Dupaquier; children, Susan D. Wilson and husband Jim and Rene E. Dupaquier and wife Holly; grandchildren, Alan Wilson, Meghan Wilson, Blane Wilson and wife Catherine, and Rene "Beau" Dupaquier Jr; and great-grandchildren, Beckett, Hansford, and Garner Wilson.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Roy, Charlie, Newton, Lloyd, and Daniel Prater; and son, Jack Dupaquier.
Beth taught students the art and love of piano for over 60 years. In addition to teaching at her house she also volunteered as a music teacher at Highland Elementary School to share the gift of music with students. She served as past president of the Music Club of Baton Rouge and the Philharmonic Club of Baton Rouge. She was honored by the Louisiana Music Teachers Association with the Outstanding Teacher Award in 2008, along with her husband John. Above all, Beth enjoyed sharing the love of music with her husband and spending time with her family. The happiness that her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren brought her was always cherished, and the memories can never be replaced.
