A resident of Baton Rouge, Henry Williard Peck McArthur Sr. passed away at 8:45 a.m. Thursday, May 7, 2009, at The Carpenter House. He was born on June 17, 1933, in Logtown, Miss. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a retired riverboat captain for more than 45 years who worked most recently with Con-Agra, Southern Towing and Peavey. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with friends and cooking and family gatherings. He was dexterous, mechanically inclined and liked to tinker with and fix things. He was fun loving, quiet, loyal and charitable with no expectations. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Monday, May 11, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting continues at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 12, from noon until service at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Andrew J. Merrick. Burial in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by his wife, Janice Swaggerty McArthur, of Baton Rouge; a son, Henry Williard Biff McArthur Jr., of Baton Rouge; a daughter, Brenda McArthur, of Las Vegas; a son-in-law, Vernon Biossat, of Las Vegas; a daughter, Penny Weber, of Denham Springs; a son-in-law, Frank Weber, of Denham Springs; two granddaughters, Brandi Weber and Brooke Weber, both of Denham Springs; five sisters, Isabel Kerr, of Jackson, Miss., Lottie Mae Holden and Gloria Dunaway, both of Perlington, Miss., Thelma Whatley, of Pascagoula, Miss., and Alma McArthur, of Perlington; and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews in Louisiana and Mississippi. Preceded in death by his mother, Abigail Giveans; father, Wilbur Wallace McArthur; two brothers, Martin and Wilbur Joseph McArthur; and two sisters, Dorthy Wilkinson and Barbara Ann McArthur, who were all of Perlington.
