Henry Guitreau

Though He brings grief, He will show compassion, so great is his unfailing love. Lamentations 3:32. Hinky Guitreau, 69, died at 4:45 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010, in Baton Rouge with his family by his side. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, Monday, Oct. 25, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting resumes at the funeral home Tuesday, Oct. 26, from 9 a.m. until services at 11 a.m. Interment will immediately follow services. He was born May 30, 1941, in Whitehall to Joseph and Willie Welda Guitreau. He graduated from Istrouma High School and served in the U.S. Navy. He retired from Turner Industries in 1996 to live at his beloved Belle River in Pierre Part. He was an avid fisherman. Nothing made him happier than being on the water with his family and friends. He looked forward to his annual trip with his brothers. He was well known for his unconditional love to all and unwavering faith to forgive. He will forever be known as a gentle man with a kind heart. In Pierre Part, Hinky was a member and usher at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church and a member of American Legion Post 328. He was also a lifelong member of Pipefitters Local 198. Hinky is survived by his wife, Pearl Elaine Kidder Guitreau four sons, Michael Earl and Jerry Guitreau, Chad Henry Guitreau, daughterinlaw, Tricia Cooper Guitreau, Michael Dane and Marci Fitzgerald, and Chris Denny and Dawn Darby a grandson, Alexander Morgan Guitreau four granddaughters, Ashley Guitreau Shoemaker, Lauren Paige Guitreau, Madi Elaine Fitzgerald and Jenna Lane Darby three greatgranddaughters, Alexis, Lahna and Lydia Shoemaker two brothers and spouses, Joseph Billy and Janice Guitreau, and Ernie and Bobbie Guitreau and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph H and Willie Mae Welda Guitreau and a sister, Betty Jean Guitreau Watts. Pallbearers will be David Guitreau, Eric Guitreau, Bobby Paille, Ralph Kelleher, E.J. Millet and Shawn Shoemaker. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Baton Rouge, 9063 Siegen Lane, Baton Rouge, LA 70810, www.hospicebr.org or Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, 4950 Essen Lane, Baton Rouge, LA 70809, www.marybird.org. The family would like to thank all of the people who lovingly cared for Hinky during his brief illness. A special thank you to Laura Spears and Bobby Paille for their devotion and kindness.
