Helen Neyland McDearman went to join her Lord on July 13, 2015. She was born in Jackson, MS on September 11, 1944, to the late Munson Cole and Helen Nash Neyland. She was a resident of Baton Rouge and a member of Briarwood Methodist Church in Jackson, MS.
She and family lived four years in Thessaloniki, Greece and four years in Brussels, Belgium. She enjoyed friends from many different cultures and communities. Helen also enjoyed painting, playing bridge, snow skiing, fishing, and cooking. She and her family traveled extensively in Europe, Asia, and America. The highlight of each year for Helen for the last 35 years was the family's annual trip to Gulf Shores, Alabama, that began with her children and became a trip with her children and grandchildren.
Helen is survived by her husband of 49 years, Victor Lee McDearman, Jr.; her children, Stephanie McDearman Hollingsworth and husband Tommy, Mark Neyland McDearman and wife Tina, and Elizabeth McDearman Byers and husband Andrew; her grandchildren, Alexis Victoria and Trevor Allen Hollingsworth, Emma Lilyia and Mason Todd McDearman, and Crawford Madey and Mae Helen Byers; and two brothers, Munson Cole Neyland, Jr. and Robert Nash Neyland and wife Melissa; and many loved nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews and extended family.
The family requests that visiting hours are observed on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 from 5:30 pm until 7:00 pm at Resthaven Gardens of Memory & Funeral Home in Baton Rouge, LA. Visiting hours will continue on Thursday, July 16, 2015, from 10:00 am until the time of services.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am at Resthaven Gardens of Memory & Funeral Home in Baton Rouge, LA. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
