A resident of Baton Rouge, and a native of Catonsville, Md., she died at 3 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009, at age 83. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home on Monday, Nov. 30, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Martin, of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. She is survived by her loving husband and best friend of 59 years, Calvin Carter; four daughters, H. DeSales Carter Hinchcliff and husband Joe, Maggie Carter Beem, Mary Paul Carter Bahm and husband Rob, and Elizabeth Carter Prestidge and husband George; a son, Michael F. Carter and wife Jackie; six grandchildren, M. Carter Chnupa and wife Joy, Amy Beem Chow and husband William, Jesse Carter, Ann E. Bahm, Emma K. Bahm and Kelly R. Prestige; and three great-grandchildren, Zach Chnupa, Camron Carter and Cole Carter. Preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Josie Miller; and a brother, Paul A. Miller. Her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Dolly graduated high school in 1944 from Mount DeSales Academy in Catonsville and in 1946 from Bard Avon Business School in Baltimore. She was the ultimate mother and homemaker, master of needles, threads, drawing, painting, a lover and collector of music and movies and a pianist. She loved walking on the beach, where she often collected shells. She loved her family and was at her happiest when she had everyone with her. She was a lifelong member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
