Heartsease Higgins

A retired employee with the St. Tammany Parish school system, she passed away at 6:35 a.m. Thursday, June 23, 2011. She was 97 years old, a native of Madisonville and resident of Baton Rouge. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, Friday, June 24, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting resumes at the funeral home Saturday, June 25, from 8:30 a.m. until service at 10:30 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Rodney Wood. Burial in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. She is survived by a daughter, Lynn Cooper son, John Johnny Higgins seven grandchildren, nine greatgrandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Higgins Jr. parents, William and Alma Wood daughter, Judi Higgins Gordon sonsinlaw, Kenneth E. Gordon and Paul A. Cooper Sr. sisters, Julia Smith and husband Mark and Marguerite Levee brother, William E. Wood and wife Helen and former brotherinlaw, Steve Levee Sr. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice for their special care.
