Hazel Smith

Hazel V. Smith left this world on September 6, 2017 to be with her heavenly father at the age of 91. She was a native of Bayou Current and resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

She was a prayerful and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who enjoyed spending time with her family.

Hazel is survived by her five children, Peggy Leger and husband Perry, Nick Romero and wife Brenda, Pam Hollis, Paulette Nelson and husband Mike, and Penny Watts and husband Mark; her fourteen grandchildren, Andrea, Travis, Danielle, Missey, Angie, Jeremey, Brandon, Paige, Leigh, Julie, Preston, Nicholas, Hope, and Alex; and her twenty-six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Rita Meyers; and her brother, Elgee Vigie.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ellis and Artile Vigie; her husband, Louis "L.C." Smith; her brothers, Versie Vigie, Sr., and Talbert Vigie; and her sisters, Beulah Polotzola, Mabel Sagnibene, Essie Mouille, and Annie Mae Phillips.

Visitation will be held at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA, on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, from 9:00 am until funeral services at 11:30 am. Burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Hollis, Brandon Hollis, Preston Nelson, Nicholas Watts, Alex Watts and Travis Stelly.
