She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. Maw-Maw Hazel passed away peacefully at her daughter's home in Zachary on Friday, Nov. 28 at 8:30 p.m. She was 86 years young. Visitation at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Sunday, Nov. 30, was from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation resumes at the funeral home on Monday, Dec. 1, from 11 a.m. until religious service at 1 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Daniel Bonvallain. Entombment in Resthaven Mausoleum. Survived by a daughter, Nancy Hearld Spurgeon and friend Danny Bourgeois; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Barbara Whitaker, of Baton Rouge, David Hearld, of Batchelor, and Pat and Rhonda Hearld, of Zachary; 12 grandchildren, Karen Bonvallain, Ronnie, Glenn, Kerry and Michael Whitaker, Jude and Jordan Hearld, Scott and Emily Spurgeon, Jenny Fontenot, Kevin and Jesse Hearld; and 15 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by husband, James M. Hearld; parents, Henry Bourke and Alice B. Causey; three brothers, Russell, Gordon and Kelly Bourke; sister, Oma Thomas; grandson, Dusty Hearld; and great-granddaughter, Robbie Whitaker. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Danny Bourgeois, Hoube Riche, Lester Dougherty and Ron Cagle. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Joseph Hospice or American Cancer Society of Baton Rouge.
