Hazel Fahey

May 17, 1933 — November 30, 2022

Hazel Warren Fahey, 89, a native of Cameron, Texas & resident of Baton Rouge, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on November 30, 2022.  She is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years Richard Fahey Sr., daughter Maureen Morgan (Jim), son Richard Jr. (Amy), grandson Darren Lucy (Kate) of Austin, Texas, step grandson Jake Morgan (Kelly), two step great grand-daughters Maddie & Malin Morgan, & sister-in-law Juanita Warren.  She also leaves behind her cat Oreo.  Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws, four siblings, a sister-in-law, three brother-in-laws, & a son-in-law.  She held a special place in her heart for two nieces that also preceded her in death: Jeannie & Reba-Gail.  Born on May 17, 1933, she was tasked at an early age with helping to care for her four younger siblings, shaping & instilling in her incredible mothering instincts.  She was a fierce protector of her family & the ultimate caregiver.  After marrying Richard, they moved from Texas to Pittsburg, this being the first stop of many during her husband’s career with ALCOA Aluminum Company, living on both the east & west coasts and finally retiring in the New Orleans area.  In 1999, they moved from Metairie to Baton Rouge to be closer to family.  Through the years, she was always very interested & proud sharing in the many accomplishments of her children & grandson.  Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.  Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 from 12:00pm until Funeral Services at 1:00pm.  Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Hazel’s name to the Bishop Ott Sweet Dreams Shelter for Women & Children or to The Companion Animal Alliance of Baton Rouge.
