On Wednesday, December 30, 2015, Harvey Smith, Jr., 91, of Carrollton, Georgia went home to be with the Lord. Harvey was born in Jonesville, Louisiana. After serving in WWII as a ball-turret gunner on B17s with the 3704th Army Air Corp, he attended LSU and made Baton Rouge his home for most of his adult life. Although he worked as a building contractor into his late 80s, Harvey is known first and foremost for his love of the Lord and a servant's heart.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; children, Carol (Cooter), Bud, Tim, and Jeannie; grandchildren, Savannah, Christina, Rhys and Bryn. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Vivian; and brother, Hiram.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Gene Williams Evangelistic Association at: Concern for the World, P.O. Box 673, Millbrook, AL 36054 or www.concernfortheworld.org. The family is asking as a remembrance of Harvey for attendees to wear red, white, and/or blue representing the blood of Christ shed for our salvation, the righteousness we received upon confession and forgiveness, and the sovereignty of God. Additionally, we're showing support for his service to the United States of America.
