Andy died on Saturday, June 5, 2010 after a courageous nine year fight with cancer. Andy was born in Ville Platte on September 3, 1938 and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1956 and attended LSU. He is survived by his wife Gayle Bolds Poret three children and seven grandchildren Melissa Kay and Gary Smith of Flushing, OH and children, Joshua, Hannah and Mathew Dr. Harvey Andrew Drew, III and Sarah Poret of Johnson City, TN and son, Nicholas and Jody Bimah of Thibodaux, LA and children, Leslie, Benton and Caroline. He is survived by his three siblings and their spouses, Yves and Cissy Poret Sarah and Kenneth Webb and Daniel and Debbie Poret. He is also survived by a special uncle, Ory G. Poret. He would like us to remember a special family friend, Lindsay Schober. Andy was a resident of Baton Rouge and worked for many years as a supervisor in the electrical department at DOW Chemical in Plaquemine and owned and operated Poret Electrical Contracting until his retirement in 2006. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Harvey Andrew and Ollie Ardoin Poret and the mother of his children, Bertie Jagneaux Poret Gilbert. A memorial mass will be held on Thursday, June 10 at St Jude Catholic Church, 9150 Highland Road, at 10am. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Hospice in His Care and to Darlene Rayborn. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
