Harry Smith

July 31, 1967 — November 19, 2016

Heaven gained a new angel, Harry Winfield Smith II, 49, a resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Saturday November 19, 2016.

Harry grew up in Fort Walton Beach, Florida and attended Choctawhatchee High School where he was a member of the Marching Indian Band and played baseball. He moved to Baton Rouge in 1986 to attend LSU and play tuba in the LSU Golden Band from Tigerland. He continued his education at the River Parish Community College obtaining a degree in Process Operations. Harry worked at Formosa Plastics and was part of their fire brigade.

Harry is survived by his wife Melissa and four children Elaina, Winn, Rebecca and Samantha, his mother Dr. Gloria Bonnie Smith, two sisters Gloria Jones, Diane Smith, brother Tommy (wife Tina) Smith and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father US Air Force Major Harry W. Smith.

Harry was a wonderful father who dedicated his time coaching baseball and softball. His most memorable times were his time spent with Heat Baseball and McKinley High School Softball. He also cherished spending time with his family and friends.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday November 22, 2016 at St. George Catholic Church on Siegen Lane Baton Rouge, LA. Visitation from 1:30 - 2:00 with service immediately following. Harry will be laid to rest following services at Hope Haven Cemetery in Prairieville, Louisiana.

The family would like to extend a special thanks for all the prayers and exceptional care provided by the Baton Rouge General ICU-B staff.
