He was a very good father and provider to his five children. He dedicated his life to hard work and would not settle for anything less. He retired from the Ascension Parish Police Jury in 1992. He was a U.S. Army Air Forces veteran of World War II, having received the American Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal. He was a proud member of Disabled Veterans. He was born Sept. 2, 1922, in Pittsburgh and raised in New Castle, Pa. During the war he was stationed in Monroe, where he said he met the love of his life, Hattie Cedotal. A resident of Gonzales, he died Monday morning, Sept. 29, 2008, sitting in his swing in his yard. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Wednesday, Oct. 1, from 11 a.m. until service at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Joel LaBauve. Burial in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by his five children, Sandy Marie Schexnaydre and her husband, Paul, Harry R. Jr. and his wife, Linda Cox Cross, Gary W. and his wife, Karen Isaminger Cross, David J. and his wife, Debra Bercegeay Cross, and Walter F. and his wife, Inez Turnley; nine grandchildren, Darrel and his wife, Diana Rouse Cross, Melissa LeBlanc and her husband, Jeremie, Jennifer, Jessica and fianc Kary Millet, Janey and fianc Danny Cloutre, Jared, Stefan, Steven, Jamie and Bryan Acy and his wife, Melissa; and great-grandchildren, Corey, Josh, Devin, Sarah, Danielle, Sierra and Taylor Acy and Hattie LeBlanc. Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Hattie; grandson, Brad Cross; parents, Walter Franklin Cross Krasinski and Mary Pawloski Cross Krasinski; and sister, Doris Cross Krasinski, who was of New Castle. The family wants to recognize Mr. Cross' very best friends, Fred and Charlene Godwin, and to thank Dr. John Fraiche, his longtime physician.
