A retired employee of Copolymer Rubber and Chemical Co. and a resident of Baton Rouge, he died at 4:55 a.m. Friday, April 4, 2008, at Landmark of Baton Rouge. He was 99 and born in Mount Airy on May 5, 1908. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Sunday, April 6, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Religious service at St. Patrick's Catholic Church on Monday, April 7, at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Jerry Martin. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. He is survived by two daughters, Sandra and husband Arthur Owens, of The Villages, Fla., and Brenda and husband Charles Harris, of Baton Rouge; a son, Ronald Anthony Champagne, of Paulina; 12 grandchildren, Kenneth Champagne, Cathy Cutrer, Jackie Champagne, Diana Lynn Osborne, Raymond John Champagne, Jennifer Champagne, Mark Champagne, Elizabeth Champagne, Kevin Owens, Darren Owens, Darlene Harris, and Julie Dicapo and husband Dennis Dicapo; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Hymel Champagne; parents, Andre and Irene Millet Champagne; a son, Harry Champagne Jr.; three sisters and four brothers. He was a wonderful person and loved by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.
