Brown, Harry Kirkland "Kirk"

A caring and much loved patriarch, Kirk passed away July 17, 2016 at the age of 72. He was born in Miley, South Carolina to the late Julius and Rosa Lee Terry Brown. He served in the US Air Force and was one of the select few chosen for interpretation of Chinese during the Vietnam War. He attended Clemson and Indiana University and graduated from LSU in accounting.

A sports enthusiast, he spent 35 years as a high school football official, as well as many years as a LSU track & field official. He was a wealth of knowledge and considered the "family's search engine" long before Google. He loved to travel and was always looking for his next adventure.

Kirk is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Sandra Casemore Brown, a son Dustin Kirkland Brown, a daughter and son in law Casey and Keith McDowell, three grandsons Dawson Brown, Hayden McDowell, and Thomas McDowell, and one granddaughter Braelyn Brown, one sister Rosie Cope of Hampton, South Carolina, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, a sister Alberta Caskle, and brother Julius (Shot) Brown III.

Pallbearers will be Shayne and Hunter Green, Chad Solari, Al and Tim Cope, and Keith McDowell. Honorary pallbearers will be Dawson Brown, and Hayden and Thomas McDowell.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 20, 2016 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA, and again on Thursday, July 21, 2016, from 10:00 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. George Catholic Church,7808 St George Dr. Baton Rouge, LA 70809, burial to follow in St. George Catholic Church Mausoleum.
