Born Harriet Haskew on August 18, 1928 in Jackson TN, she was then raised in Vicksburg MS. In 1957 at Whiting Field in the panhandle of Florida, she met a dashing Navy Fighter Pilot, AB Wilson. Soon thereafter, a quick trip to Las Vegas and they were married and she began life as a Navy wife where she actively volunteered to be a mother/confidant/friend to countless other Navy wives who needed help wherever the Navy sent them. There were many stops on the journey that took her to places like Rhode Island, California, Ohio, Virginia, Maryland and Alabama before settling in Baton Rouge in 1980. In Baton Rouge, she had a successful career as a recruiter for Snelling and Snelling where she had won numerous awards for performance and sales. Later, she took a passionate interest in clowning, taking classes, investing in makeup and clothes and ultimately performing in many retirement homes and parades in the area. She rejoiced in giving of her time and money to many causes including the Diabetes Center of Baton Rouge, Red Cross, Wounded Warriors and more. Always ready with a laugh or an opinion, she made her presence known wherever she went.
Harriet is survived by her son, Frank Wilson and wife, Robin; her granddaughters, Madison Wilson, and Jennifer Ortego and husband, Shane; her great-granddaughters, Savannah, Olivia, and Ella; and her grandson, Richard Borek, Jr.
She is preceded in death by her husband, AB Wilson, her daughter, Angela Borek; her parents; and her 5 siblings.
A Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2016, at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church at 1:00 PM. A graveside service will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
