Harriet Frazier Patterson passed away in her sleep early in the morning of June 18, 2013 at Nottingham Regional Rehabilitation Center nursing home, at the age of 87. She was the devoted mother of Robert T. Patterson and Donald A. Patterson. Harriet was born in Chattanooga, TN on February 26, 1926. Her father Robert T. Frazier was Vice President of Manufacturing at The Caviler Corp, which, at that time, made vending machines, stoves and cedar chests. He came out of retirement to found the Southern National Bank of Fort Walton, now the First National Bank Trust in Fort Walton Beach, FL. Harriet also was the granddaughter of Robert T Frazier Sr., a First Asst. Commissioner of Patents under President Wilson. Her greatuncle, Tyler Calhoun was the founding developer of Destin, FL who lived in Capt. Destins old house for many years. Her maternal grandmother was Harriet R. Davis Thompson and her grandfather was Ario Markle Thompson a wellknown and successful timber buyer who lived on Lookout Mountain, TN. Harriet was the identical twin of her sister Corinne. As young women, both Harriet and Corinne were very vivacious and striking and usually the center of attention where ever they went as young ladies. Harriet was a great believer of Southern Culture and of the antebellum traditions. She was presented at the Cotton Ball in Chattanooga in the late 40s and pictures of her during that period show her to have been a true Southern Belle of the Ball. Although she lived much of her adult life in the North, she was ever a true Southern Belle in the old sense of the tradition. She attended All Saints Finishing School in Vicksburg, MS. Later she met and then married James M. Patterson in 1949 at All Saints Church in Washington D.C. Harriet is survived by her former husband, James M. Patterson her two sons and their wives and three grandchildren, her nieces Katherine Hickok, Caroline Colletti , Barbara Anne Kilgore and Adara An DRianna and also by her nephews, Thomas Kilgore and Raymond Cornwell. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert T. and Ethel Frazier and sisters, Katharine Wilson, Ethel Cornwell and Corinne Kilgore. Her vigorous presence will be remembered and missed. She never saw a situation that she couldnt embellish into a better story. She was always bigger than life and never let life bring her down.
