Harold “Cookie” Mayeux, Jr. of Baton Rouge, born February 1, 1942 in Cottonport, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, March 12, 2021 with family by his side after a 5-year battle with cancer.
He is survived by his loving wife, Beverly, who he was married to for 58 years and was his high school sweatheart; children, Melissa Molaison (Mark), Kevin Mayeux (Carol), Julie Dean (James), and Tricia Barber (Ryan); grandchildren, Brittany Henderson, Kaylee Morris, Stephen Lofaso, Nicolas Barber, Sara Barber; great-grandchildren, Madilyn Henderson and Kylie Morris; sister, Ethel Sue Bordelon of Carencro; and brother, Sammy Mayeux of Cottonport.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold, Sr. and Julia Mayeux.
Harold retired from Exxon as a Lab Technician. He was a devout Catholic who attended Church daily. He was selfless, generous, and always put others first. He was known for his sense of humor. He loved his family, music, dancing, camping, pickleball, and especially his companion dog, Macie. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Mayeux, Ryan Barber, Nicolas Barber, Stephen Lofaso, Kyle Morris, John Mark Henderson. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Molaison and James Dean.
Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Jean Vianney Catholic Church on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
