Hal Macmurdo

Hal Bailey “Buck” Macmurdo, born November 23, 1933 in Baton Rouge, LA and resident of Baton Rouge passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2020.  On this morning our Heavenly Father called his caregiving angel home.  He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and generous friend to many.  He is survived by his sons, Dr. Hal David Macmurdo; Charles Howard Macmurdo; William Edward Macmurdo and wife Mimi of Baton Rouge. He is also survived by his grandchildren: James Bailey Macmurdo, Paul Monroe Macmurdo, and Rachel Marie Macmurdo, as well as, his niece Jennifer Kate Chauvin.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Swindler Macmurdo; his parents, Hal Joseph and Thelma Richard Macmurdo; sibling, Richard Edward Macmurdo and nephew Richard Bailey Macmurdo. Buck was a graduate of Dufrocq Elementary, Baton Rouge High School, and Louisiana State University. He served his country in the United States Army. He retired from the Louisiana Tax Commission and East Baton Rouge Assessors office.  He was a member of Sigma Chi, Elks Club, and the Lions Club.  He was always in his element when firing up the BBQ pit, or having family and friends over for a crawfish boil.  He also enjoyed being with friends watching the big game or pondering complex worldly issues at the Patio Lounge.  We would like to thank the caregivers at Landmark South Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their love and compassion in caring for our Father. We are also very appreciative of the help and compassion of Life Source Hospice. Relatives and friends are invited to join us at Resthaven Funeral Home for a celebration of Life.  Visitation is on Thursday, July 23, 2020 from 10:00 am until service at 11:00 am.  Burial will follow.  In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorial donations be made to the Cat Haven www.cathaven.org  or the charity of your choice.
