Guy Phd Sr.

Died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010, at his home in Baton Rouge at age 71. He was a native of Omaha, Nebraska. He graduated from the College of Medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 1966. A member of Phi Rho Sigma medical fraternity and the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He joined the pathology faculty at University of Nebraska Medical Center. He served as assistant dean for the curriculum and was founding director of Regional Pathology Services. In 1978, he joined the Cleveland Clinic and later returned to University of Nebraska Medical Center for three years before joining Sonora Laboratories in Mesa, Ariz. He moved to Baton Rouge in 1985 and served as medical director of Louisiana Reference Labs and Pathology Associates of Southern Louisiana for 14 years. He was an active member of the College of American Pathologists and served as chairman of various committees. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home Sunday, Feb. 7, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 2250 Main St., at 11 a.m., Monday, Feb. 8, celebrated by the Rev. Paul McDuffie. He is survived by his wife, Jean Hughes Haven son and daughterinlaw, Guy Haven Jr. and Laurie daughter and soninlaw, Michelle Brown and Jeff brother and sisterinlaw, Larry Haven and Maris four grandchildren, Guy Haven III, Zachary Haven, Douglas Brown and Evelyn Brown motherinlaw, Virginia Hughes six sistersinlaw and their spouses, Pat Haven, Kathy Hughes, Ginny and Bob Strakosch, Beth and Jeff Wendling, Nancy and Dean Childers, and Laura and John Fisher six brothersinlaw and their spouses, Bob Hughes, Richard and Karen Hughes, Ed and Joanne Hughes, Mike and Coleen Hughes, David Hughes and John Hughes godchild, Sarah Childers and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents, Walter J. and Ann Merwald Haven son, Douglas Haven brother, Walt Haven and fatherinlaw, Robert G. Hughes, M.D. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.
